Most Americans who file federal
taxes will receive an Economic
Stimulus Rebate Check later
this spring without taking any
special action. However, many
seniors and disabled veterans,
who do not normally file a tax
return, will need to file a
tax return for 2007 in order
to receive a cash rebate. In
order to receive a check you
must have at least $3,000 in
qualifying income. Qualifying
income includes: Earned income;
Social Security retirement,
survivior and disablity benefits,
not including Supplemental Security
Income; Railroad Retirement
benefits; and/or Veterans' disability
compensation, pension, or survivors'
benefits.
Also remember your credit union
offers many savings options
to put this money aside for
a rainy day.

Direct deposit is safer, easier
and more convenient than getting
a check in the mail. Yet despite
the advantages, many people who
rely on Social Security and Supplemental
Security Income (SSI) still get
checks.
The U.S. Department of the Treasury
and the Federal Reserve Banks
are sponsoring Go Direct, a campaign
to motivate people who receive
federal benefit checks to use
direct deposit. Start
